The Sun'll Come Out Tomorrow. . . . .What a great accent for a vintage wedding. This is one that snuck past me till I ran across Bianca's warm red inspirations on SMP Style Circle. Ironically--and I believe there aren't too many accidents-- I dozed off last night with the TV going and woke up to the 1982 musical version of Annie, with Albert Finney as Daddy Warbucks and Ed Hermann playing yet another version of FDR. The thing that impressed me most about this flick had to be the costumes and black and white tile and marble sets, capturing the Deco era so beautifully . . . .

More likely to be found in an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art, I don't think you'll find these gems in your favorite designer's flagship store.  Believe me, this medley of paper dresses are indeed works of art that have my undivided attention.  Art to Wear exhibits can be truly fascinating; the spectrum of ideas you'll find will amaze and inspire you to be a little bold and get you thinking outside the box on your wedding day  The above work with the model flaunting layers and tiers of newsprint was photographed by Stephen M Loban

Paper or plastic?  We know what photographer Adri Krisnadi asked for.  This tour de force strapless and belted number out of brown paper shopping bags is pure innovation.

Nesting

I've been busy nesting here for Baby Girl #2.

I recently made a car seat tent to keep her sleeping well and sick strangers a little further away. I love it but I it is a bit too long on the sides. Unfortunately, the rick rack trim would be a nightmare to redo if I shortened it so I'm keeping it the way it is.

Super easy! The only changes I made were to add the trim and make the velcro tabs instead of ties.

I also made new nursing cover. Again, these are a no-brainer to sew. The secret is to use right type of boning. Rigilene Sew-Thru Boning is the only brand I would go with. The other brands do not work well. It can be hard to find but I can always find it at Hancock's Fabrics and on Etsy.

The only changes I made was to shorten both straps a bit.

Summer's here and so is the less formal wedding. Did you know certain eyelets like Swiss cottons are considered to be some of the finest fabrics in the world and not just for kids and doll dresses? First-rate cottons like eyelet have always been a stylish option for summer brides and garden weddings; they're now making a comeback with the smaller, more intimate backyard wedding on the rise. Defined, eyelet is a light to medium weight cotton with cutout patterns of embroidery along the border. Pictured above, it is a classic summer time favorite for informal brides. Eyelet is especially pretty made up into long or short hourglasses, sundresses, chemises, shifts, shells.

THE REDHEADED BRIDE

Redheads come in all shades: auburn,, ginger, cinnamon, chestnut, henna, strawberry blond, carrot top.  Hair is not all that characterizes the real redhead though.  Fair, sometimes alabaster skin with a peach undertone and freckles are all hallmark of the quintessential celtic beauty, marking shades like ivory, peach and eggshell a redhead's best pick.  Why are these yellow tones best for you?  Your complexion is most likely fair and pale ergo most whites and stark whites will wash out your complexion. On the other hand, ivory and eggshell tones will warm up skin tone and once they're put on do seem to belong to redheads exclusively. Silk whites--which is to say off or muted whites like the shade in the header photo and last photos below can work for the bride with red hair as long as they stay matte or muted . . .
